PINE MOUNTAIN — The first full day of Spring in 2019 also marked the start of the anticipated peak blooming season of Callaway Gardens’ world-famous azaleas.

The Overlook Azalea Garden is entering peak bloom. Upon visiting, members and guests will see the beginning of the gardens’ restoration project with manicured trails, water features and a variety of new plantings underway.

The 40-acre Callaway Brothers Azalea Bowl is coming into peak but a few days behind the more mature Overlook Azalea Garden & Trails. In addition, Spring bloomers such as tulips, dogwoods, redbuds, red buckeye, native azaleas, spring wildflowers along the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Trail and more are blooming.

For a glance at what the blooms look like, visit the annual Azalea Watch section of Callawaygardens.com or visit the Callaway Gardens Facebook Page for regular updates.

New for 2019 is a live webcam so guests may visit virtually before planning a trip to Pine Mountain.
