DOUGLASVILLE – The LaGrange Grangers had no trouble with home-standing Chapel Hill on Thursday on the way to a 9-0 victory in a Region 5-AAAA soccer match.

Seven different players scored goals for the Grangers, who improved to 2-0 in the region.

Josue Recinos and Tony Sosa each had two goals, and Harrison Hunnicutt, Tripp Holstrom, Robert Reese, Jimmy Cancino and Griffin Sanchez had one goal apiece.

There was a lot more suspense in the girls’ game, with LaGrange rallying from a 2-0 deficit in the first half to upend Chapel Hill 3-2.

LaGrange rallied to tie it 2-2 at the half, and it added the go-ahead goal early in the second half.

Caroline Thompson had two goals for LaGrange, and Sydney Ormsby had one goal.

The Lady Grangers improved to 2-0 in the region as they look to win their third consecutive region championship.

LaGrange’s teams both have critical weeks coming up with three region games.

After visiting Cedartown on Monday, LaGrange hosts Central-Carroll on Tuesday and Cartersville on Thursday.
