Last Friday afternoon, around 5:30 p.m., word came in that a very serious wreck involving five individuals had taken place on Hogansville Road, just past Laura Drive, between LaGrange and Hogansville. Per a Georgia State Patrol officer working the scene, a GMC Yukon carrying a trailer and a GMC Sierra collided head-on. Since Friday afternoon, we have not received additional information on the status of any of those involved, but expect to soon and will relay information as it is made available.

The wreck necessitated five separate life-flight helicopters respond to the scene, which responded in addition to a plethora of ambulances, fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. GSP was dispatched to the scene just before 6 pm, at 5:54 pm, and the scene was clear by 8 pm.

In moments like these, our thoughts and hearts immediately go out to those involved in the wreck and their families. We are hoping for the best news possible from this accident to be delivered in the coming days.

In addition, it is important to recognize the swift and efficient work of the law enforcement agencies involved, who worked the scene with professionalism and skill to ensure all those involved in the crash were treated quickly and received the care they needed on the scene. In moments such as those, there is no time to think, only time to react. The reactions of our medical emergency personnel have shown once again that the training they receive is top tier.

No one expects to wake up and become involved in a serious wreck, yet serious wrecks take place each and every day.
