The final days of spring break in Troup County will be marked with music, animals and maybe even a little education, with the highlight of the weekend coming in the form of the kickoff of the 2019 Sweetland Concert Series.

The Chattahoochee Riverkeeper will start the day early on Saturday with Sweep the Hooch at locations surrounding the Chattahoochee River and connected waterways, like West Point Lake. Registration is closed for the event, but anyone interested in learning about the impact of trash on local waterways is encouraged to visit Chattahoochee.org.

Meanwhile, the City of LaGrange Animal Shelter will host an offsite adoption event at Petsense at 141 Commerce Avenue from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Biblical History Center will continue its Follow the Cross Walks on Friday and Saturday, with a tour focusing on Holy Week.

Reservations are required, and the walk costs $20 per adult and $15 for children without the meal or $40 for adults and $25 for children with the meal. For reservations, call (706) 885-0363.

Saturday evening, John Prine will perform at Sweetland Amphitheatre. Prine is a two-time Grammy winning, American country singer-songwriter. His album “Fair & Square” won a Grammy for best contemporary folk album in 2005, and his album “The Missing Years” won the award in 1991. He has been nominated for 11 other Grammy awards, including three nominations in 2018. Gates open at 7 p.m. For more information, visit, Sweetland.events/events/john-prine/.
