Two of the USA South’s top teams will cross paths this weekend.

LaGrange College and Pfeiffer University, who have a combined 25-7 USA South record between them, will face off this weekend at Cleaveland Field at Phil Williamson Stadium.

Pfeiffer (21-4 overall) is leading the conference with a 12-3 record, although it is ineligible for the USA South crown since it is still in the probationary period after making the transition to NCAA Division III.

LaGrange College (22-8 overall), which has won the past two USA South tournament titles, is in third place in the conference with a 13-4 record.

“They’re a very quality team, and we’ll have our hands full,” LaGrange College head coach David Kelton said. “It’ll be like playing Huntingdon and Piedmont and some of those other ones at the top of our conference. It’ll be a tough weekend for sure.”

LaGrange College has yet to lose a conference series this season, and it took two of three from Huntingdon and Piedmont, who were both ranked in the D3baseball.com poll at the time.

LaGrange College closes the regular season with three home games against William Peace this weekend. After that, it’ll be time for the Panthers to defend their tournament title.
