Grangers drop region game

The LaGrange Grangers fell to 5-4 in Region 5-AAAA with Tuesday’s 6-4 road loss to the Central-Carroll Lions.

LaGrange is in a tie for third place in the region with three games remaining, and it will host Central-Carroll on Friday.

LaGrange closes its region schedule with two games against Troup next week.

LaGrange needs to finish fourth or higher in the region to qualify for the state playoffs.

In Tuesday’s game, LaGrange was trailing by two when it pushed a pair of runs across in the top of the sixth inning to pull even at 4-4.

Central-Carroll answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, and LaGrange was unable to answer in the seventh inning.

Charles Crawford had two hits for LaGrange, including a triple, and he scored two runs.

Will Alford and Wesley Kuhn each had a double, and Alford had an RBI.

Brant Williams had two hits, and it was his two-run single that tied it in the sixth inning.

Matthew Morgan started for LaGrange and pitched the first 3 1/3 innings, and Jake Cardwell threw the final 2 2/3 innings.
