If the weather cooperates, the regular season will come to a close today with a county showdown.

The Callaway and Troup baseball teams, who will both be at home for the opening round of the state playoffs next week, are set to make up their game that was postponed because of poor weather earlier in the season.

Troup and Callaway were in the fourth inning of their game in February when the umpires decided to call the game.

The Cavaliers were leading 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Tigers had the bases loaded and one out.

As Callaway made a pitching change, the umpires let the coaches for the two teams know they were ending the game because of the poor weather.

Today’s game, which will be played at Troup at 5:55 p.m., will start from the beginning.

LaGrange concluded its regular-season schedule with Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Troup.

Callaway, LaGrange and Troup will all be in the state playoffs next week.

Callaway and Troup, thanks to their second-place finishes in their respective regions, will host a first-round series.

LaGrange, which finished third, will be on the road for its playoff opener.

Each team will play a doubleheader on Wednesday, and if needed, a third and deciding game would be played on Thursday.
