It’s their time of year.

The LaGrange College Panthers have won the past two USA South baseball tournament championships, and they’ll begin their quest for a three-peat today.

LaGrange College, the tournament’s number three seed, faces sixth-seeded Greensboro (N.C.) at noon, and the game will be played at Point University’s baseball complex in West Point.

There are eight teams in the double-elimination tournament, and a champion will be crowned on Sunday afternoon.

The tournament winner will earn an automatic invitation to the NCAA Division III regional.

The Panthers are riding high heading into the tournament.

With Saturday’s doubleheader sweep of William Peace, LaGrange College finished the regular season at 26-9 overall, and 17-5 in the USA South.

Only Piedmont (19-3) and Methodist (20-4) finished with better conference records than the Panthers.

Huntingdon (12-8) is the number four seed, and the final four teams are North Carolina Wesleyan (12-9), Greensboro (12-9) and Maryville (11-10).

If LaGrange College gets past Greensboro, it would play either Methodist or Maryville on Friday at 10 a.m.

If LaGrange College loses to Greensboro, it would play an elimination game against Methodist or Maryville on Friday at 10 a.m.
