Spring practice begins

Football is back.

The Callaway Cavaliers jumped into spring practice on a picture-perfect Monday afternoon as they continue the process of preparing for a new season that begins in August.

LaGrange and Troup will open spring practice on Wednesday.

Each team is permitted to have 10 practice sessions during the spring, and that includes a spring game.

Callaway, LaGrange and Troup will all play spring games.

Callaway will be at Jacksonville State University in Alabama to play Charles Henderson High for its spring game on May 15.

LaGrange and Troup will both play their spring games on May 17.

LaGrange will visit Hardaway, and Troup will be at home against Newnan.

Callaway and Troup are looking to build on their successful seasons that ended in the state semifinals.

Under coach Pete Wiggins, Callaway won three playoff games before falling to Rockmart in the Class AA semifinals.

Troup, with coach Tanner Glisson leading the way, reached the Class AAAA semifinals before losing to eventual state champion Blessed Trinity.

LaGrange, meanwhile, is hoping to improve on its 2-8 record from a year ago under second-year head
