Friends of the Library to host megasale Friday, Saturday

The Friends of LaGrange Memorial Library is gearing up for its semiannual megasale this weekend at the library at 115 Alford St.

Due to the overwhelming positive response to an early start time in November, Friday’s sale also will begin at 9 a.m. when the library opens and run until 5 p.m. Saturday hours also match those of the library — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The sale is made up of books donated by residents and features a large selection of fiction, including some large-print versions. History and biography also are well-represented in the latest donations, along with cookbooks and children’s items.

Other nonfiction categories include travel, self-help, outdoors, sports, art, music, humor, crafts and gardening.

There also is a media of all sorts — DVDs, CDs and even LPs.

Most patrons prefer the bag sale. Sale organizers said, they buy a paper grocery bag for $5 at the door and fill it with as much as they can. Books can also be bought individually, with hardbacks selling for $1, trade paperbacks for 50 cents and children’s books priced lower.

In addition, the Friends bookshop will be open, but books there are not eligible for the bag sale.

This sale will not include mass-market paperbacks, but those will be offered at a 1-cent sale May 30 and June 1.

Proceeds from the megasale benefit library programs.
