Troup’s Ashanti Tigner continued her phenomenal season by securing a spot in the state finals in two events.

Tigner, after winning region championships in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, excelled in those events at the Class AAAA sectional on Saturday in Columbus.

In the 100-meter dash, Tigner won her eight-person heat with a time of 12.15 seconds, and she was second overall to Howard’s Kayla Sweeney (11.92 seconds).

Those same two runners had the best times in the 200 as well.

Tigner once again was first in her heat with a time of 25.19 seconds, and Sweeney’s time of 25.09 seconds was the best overall.

Tigner was also a member of the 1,600-meter relay team that placed eighth to earn a spot in the state finals.

The team of Tigner, Kaila Jones-Hooks, Khara Roberts, and Catherine Leveritt had a time of 4:15.
