Bliss earns SEC honor

Former Troup Tiger Ryan Bliss, who is in the midst of an exceptional debut season for the Auburn Tigers, has been named the SEC freshman of the week.

During a three-game series against Alabama, Bliss was 6-for-12 while reaching base in eight of his 14 plate appearances.

Bliss also had four RBIs and five runs scored, and he had two stolen bases.

In the series opener, Bliss had two hits and a walk, and he scored two runs.

Bliss had two more hits with a run

scored in the second game, and he finished the series in style with two hits, four RBIs and two runs scored.

Auburn (29-19) won two of the three games to improve to 12-12 in the SEC.

Bliss, who has been starting since day one at second base, is hitting .270 with 24 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

Bliss is the only Auburn player who has started all 48 games this season.

Auburn hosts Georgia this weekend in a key SEC series.

Logan Moody, a senior from LaGrange High, is a pitcher for Georgia.
