The Lafayette Christian School Cougars will have to wait a few days to try to win a state championship.

Lafayette Christian and Peachtree Academy were supposed to play for the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association state title on Friday, but Mother Nature had other ideas.

Because of the heavy rain on Thursday, the series was postponed, and they will play on Tuesday instead.

They’ll play a doubleheader on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., and if needed, a third and deciding game would be played on Thursday at 6 p.m.

The state-championship series will be played at Troup High’s baseball field.

It’s been a special season for Lafayette Christian, which captured the Region 4-AA championship before beating Horizon Christian Academy and Westminster Christian Academy in the state playoffs.

Peachtree Academy, which won the Region 3-AA title, had a first-round bye before sweeping Cherokee Christian in the semifinals.
