Mrs. Vernia Irwin Doyle

Vernia Irwin Doyle, age 96, passed away on May 9, 2019 at the Atlanta Medical Center.  A native of LaGrange, Vernia moved to Los Angeles, California and lived there almost half her life, returning in 1978 to take care of her mother.  Vernia was the daughter of the late Alvin Irwin and Cleo Keeble Irwin.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Lewis Irwin, who was killed in WWII, James Irwin and Marvin “Billy” Irwin, one sister, Sara Irwin, who died as a child, and her husband Joe Doyle. Vernia is survived by her sisters, Lois Irwin Lee and Mary Ann Irwin Upchurch, both of LaGrange.  Although Vernia had no children of her own, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.  She was a Godly woman who had a talent for making everyone feel welcome.  She will be laid to rest at Shadowlawn Cemetery. A fellowship time for family and friends will be held from 9-11 am on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 in the family room at Higgins Funeral Home in LaGrange with a service to follow in the Chapel at 11am.
