The LaGrange Grangers grappled with the Hardaway Hawks on Thursday in their spring game.

While Hardaway won 26-21, LaGrange was ahead 21-7 when the starters were on the field.

Hardaway scored on its first possession, and those were its only points against LaGrange’s starters.

LaGrange tied it in the second quarter on a 71-yard scoring pass from Charles Crawford to Logan Karcher.

On a broken play, Crawford scrambled to his right and completed a short pass to Karcher, who beat the Hardaway defense for the touchdown.

In the third quarter, LaGrange got a 15-yard touchdown run from Andre Canty, and Charles Miller returned an interception for a score.

On Wednesday, the Callaway Cavaliers wrapped up spring practice with a hard-fought 33-29 victory over Charles Henderson High on Wednesday in the Troy Cable Spring Classic.

The Cavaliers had nine practice days leading up to Wednesday’s scrimmage, which gave the returning players as well as some newcomers hoping to land a starting spot an opportunity to show what they can do.

Callaway, which lost to Rockmart in the Class AA state semifinals last season, will soon jump into its summer program before official preseason practice begins the final week in July.

“I feel like it’s been a really good two weeks,” Callaway head coach Pete Wiggins said. “I feel like that a lot of guys have gotten better, but we’ve seen places that we’ve still got to work on, but I feel like it’s an opportunity to earn a spot, or for a starter to show what they’ve worked for, what they have gained in the offseason, and that relates to the field.”
