Troup County Tax Commissioner Shane Frailey was honored this month when he was voted to represent District 9, which includes Troup County, at the Georgia Association of Tax Officials.

“As president of Georgia Association of Tax Officials, I am proud to announce District 9’s new district leader, Shane Frailey,” GATO President Tabetha DuPriest said. “Commissioner Frailey will be over six counties — Coweta, Harris Meriwether, Talbot, Troup and Upson — and serve as the liaison to GATO’s executive board as well as [take on] many other duties.”

As a district leader, Frailey will take part in quarterly meetings, will make recommendations, will vote in meetings and will relay necessary actions from the executive branch to individual counties.

“It is an honor to be elected as a representative of our district,” Frailey said. “I will work closely with the executive board. I will make decisions that better our association and all 159 tax commissioners all over the state of Georgia.”

Frailey will be one of 18 district leaders representing Georgia’s 159 counties at GATO.

“There is a lot of responsibility and dedication that comes in being a district leader, and I look forward to working closely with him on our executive board,” DuPriest said of Frailey. “I know he will continue to serve his constituents to the best of his ability, along with his district and GATO.”

Frailey will fill the position vacated by Coweta County Tax Commissioner Tommy Ferrell.

“My goal is to represent Troup County with the utmost respect and to be a leader for these other counties,” Frailey said. “I just love serving as tax commissioner. I love serving the people. Public service has always been my number one calling, and it will continue.”
