The Troup County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary where thousands of dollars were taken from a safe on the 2500 block of Mobley Bridge Road.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene on May 28 and were told that an unknown person entered the residence through a window between May 26 and May 28, according to a TCSO press release.

Investigators believe the suspect used a cutting torch to gain access to a Liberty brand safe, which contained mostly $100 and $20 bills, according to the press release. It’s possible the bills may have been burned or have char marks on them.
