It’s that time again.

The West Georgia Superstar Football Camp, which is in its 26th year, will be held on Saturday at Callaway Stadium.

As has been the case from the start, it’s a free camp, and boys and girls from the ages of 8 to 18 are invited to participate.

Anyone interested can register on Saturday at Callaway Stadium before the camp begins at 9 a.m.

The camp was created by Ruben Hairston, who is always happy to invest in the youth of Troup County.

“Like I tell everybody, you can pay now or pay later,” said Hairston, who played in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs. “You show time and love for the kids now, it makes a difference. If we can save one or two, we can make a difference in the community.”

It’ll be a familiar group of instructors, many of whom played at Auburn.

Among the instructors who’ll be there on Saturday is Aundray Bruce, the former Auburn star and number one pick of the Atlanta Falcons.

“We appreciate all our support,” Hairston said. “They donate their time, and they come back and work with the kids.”

Hairston has also encouraged some current players to help out with the camp.

“I’m hoping that we can get some of the younger guys, going to college, or already in college,” Hairston said. “We’re hoping we can get a bunch of them back out.”
