Camps keep students busy in summer

There are a number of camps going on this week in LaGrange and Troup County, providing students with ways to get out of the house and have some fun during the summer months.

The LaGrange Fire and Police Departments are holding their annual camp at the Mike Daniel Recreation Center, Camp Cowpie continues as a scout camp and Camp Winshape is taking place at Lafayette Christian School.

All of these camps have different focuses, but we appreciate everyone who plays a part in each of them.

It’s so important to keep our children engaged during the summer, rather than just laying around watching TV and eating snacks.

Many of these camps have been around for quite some time. Martha Evans has Camp Cowpie so organized that it’s a well-oiled machine after 40 plus years, but it still takes a lot of work. Camp Winshape raises funding through the Chick-Fil-A Awesomesauce Race.

There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to bring these camps to students. We appreciate all that hard work and those who spend their time volunteering to help out.
