He’s not ready to hang up the cleats.

Former LaGrange High football standout Triston Dozier recently completed a stellar football career at Gardner Webb.

Dozier, who graduated with an accounting degree, was a three-year starter at corner back for Gardner Webb.

Now with his college days behind him, Dozier wants to continue to play, and he’s exploring his different options, including a new league that’s about to begin.

“I’m looking at the CFL, and the XFL is just starting up,” said Dozier, who offered a helping hand during the West Georgia Superstar Football Camp on Saturday at Callaway Stadium. “So I’m just trying to work out, and just give it a shot, because when it’s done it’s done. I’m just trying to stay active if I get the call.”

Dozier has succeeded on every level so far.

Dozier was a ball-hawking defensive back at LaGrange, and he helped the team reach the state playoffs as a senior in 2014.

Dozier played in 40 career games at Gardner Webb and was a full-time starter his final three seasons.

Dozier’s senior season was his best.

In nine games, Dozier had a career-high 45 tackles and three interceptions, and he had 14 passes defended.

Dozier also forced a fumble, recovered a fumble, and blocked a kick.

Dozier finished his career with 102 tackles and four interceptions.

Now, Dozier is hoping to land a spot with a professional team, and all he wants is a chance.

“I think if I can get in I can make a team,” Dozier said. “You just have to have somebody give you a shot.”

On Saturday morning, Dozier was back at a familiar location.

Dozier played his home games at Callaway Stadium and had some great memories there.

Growing up, Dozier attended the West Georgia Superstar Football Camp at the stadium, and he was happy to be the one giving the instruction on Saturday.

“It’s just a good feeling, going from being the one in the drills, to being able to help out with the drills,” Dozier said. “You get to see it from both ends. I’m glad to give back. Pretty much everybody that’s out here is older than me, so when I was at LaGrange, I remember them. It’s a good feeling to be back here.”
