It’s tournament time.

All-star play in Dixie Youth Baseball gets started this weekend, with the 7-8-year-old district one tournament kicking off in Manchester.

The 9-10-year-old district tournament will be the following weekend in Thomaston with a pair of Troup County teams participating.

There is one Troup County 11-12-year-old all-star team, and it will go straight to the state tournament in Swainsboro.

There will be two local teams in this weekend’s 7-8-year-old tournament in Manchester.

The Troup National and Hogansville all-star teams will each play two games today in the double-elimination tournament.

They’ll each play their first game at 6 p.m., and a second game at 7:30 p.m.

After today’s games, there will be three teams remaining, while one team will be eliminated.

The tournament continues at 9 a.m. on Saturday in a game featuring the two remaining one-loss teams.

The two surviving teams meet in the championship game at 10:30 a.m., and if needed, a final game would be played at noon.

The top finishers from the district tournaments quality for state.

Troup’s 11-12-year-old all-star team will go straight to the state tournament in Swainsboro on July 5.
