THINC College and Career Academy has selected its top candidate in the search for its next CEO, according to board chair Bill Stump.

The THINC board met on Tuesday and went into executive session as it discussed the candidates to replace Kathy Carlisle, who is retiring later this year. The name of the top candidate was not released following the executive session.

Stump said the board will have the candidate meet with stakeholders and will work on a compensation package. He said the board hopes to have a new CEO named in the next few weeks.

According to board meeting minutes from May 28, 17 applications were submitted for the position. Four top candidates were chosen, with interviews taking place on June 4 and June 5.

The top two were selected and met with the THINC board and staff and were set to chat with incoming Troup County School System Superintendent Dr. Brian Shumate as well as Dr. Scott Rule.

Carlisle has served in her role since 2015, when THINC first opened its doors and is staying on board at THINC until the new CEO is up to speed.
