Six teams, including the host West Point squad, will compete for a Junior League state championship beginning this weekend.

The tournament for 14-and-under teams will be held in West Point beginning on Friday, and a champion will be crowned on Wednesday.

Joining West Point in the tournament are Elbert County, Cartersville, Northern (Columbus), Hobgood and Athens.

It’s a double-elimination format, with the tournament winner advancing to the World Series.

There’ll be two games on Friday, with Elbert County playing Cartersville at 10 a.m., and Northern facing Hobgood at 1 p.m.

West Point has a first-round bye, and it will play the winner of the game between Elbert County or Cartersville on Saturday at 11 a.m.

If West Point wins its first game, it will play again on Monday at 6 p.m. in a winner’s bracket game.

If West Point loses on Saturday, it will play in an elimination game on Sunday at 8:30 p.m.

The tournament continues next week, and the final two teams will square off on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
