Man killed in accident on Highway 29

EDITOR’S NOTE: Law enforcement has clarified that a male was killed in this accident. It was previously reported as a female.

A 54-year-old male was killed in an accident on Highway 29 in Hogansville on Sunday afternoon. 

According to information from the LaGrange post of Georgia State patrol, an Audi car headed southbound struck a tree on the upper front side. The front passenger, a 54-year-old female, was airlifted to a medical center where she was pronounced deceased. 

Her identity was not released. 

The driver told GSP they had to swerve to avoid contact from an unknown vehicle that had traveled into their lane. It was unclear whether other passengers in the vehicle were also injured.

The GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is investigating the accident.
