A woman was struck by her own vehicle in Hogansville after it rolled onto her, according to Hogansville Police Chief Brian Harr. The incident occurred on Poplar Street in Hogansville on Saturday and resulted in serious injuries.

“When we got there, a female in her early 80s had turned off Baptist Street onto Poplar and her car went into the ditch,” Harr said.

Harr said that the woman thought she put the car in park but when she stepped out of the vehicle it was still in drive.

“Because of the incline, the car started moving forward again and caught her left leg then pulled her under the vehicle,” Harr said.

Harr believed the vehicle was an older Kia Sportage. Harr said that her entire left side sustained serious injuries.

“Left arm, hand, shoulder, hip, knee and left ankle all sustained injuries,” Harr said. “Because of her medical condition and injuries, she was life flighted to Grady Hospital.”

As of Monday, Harr said that the victim has undergone multiple surgeries.
