Those who have enjoyed Fredonia Heritage Festival in past years, as well as those first-timers who will attend this year, are urged to attend a planning meeting on Aug. 1 to offer ideas and opinions on how to make the Nov. 2 event a success.

The Aug. 1 meeting, which is open to the general public, is set for 7 p.m. Eastern Time at Fredonia Community House, 6160 County Road 222. That’s shown as Five Points on GPS navigation. Light refreshments will be on hand.

The date for this year’s annual Fredonia Heritage Day is Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. ET.

On this day, a wide variety of entertainment, arts and crafts, food and educational displays and demonstrations will be set up on the grounds of and inside the Community House.

“This is the third year  — and a high point — of the Alabama bicentennial celebration, and we want our special event to reflect this in the best possible way,” said Fredonia Heritage President J.J. Frickert.

“This year also marks 100 years of service, first as a school then a meeting house, by  the historic Community House.”

“Every year, we have some great features on Heritage Day and the suggestions of the public are always so helpful in planning the day,” said Frickert.

“We also appreciate so much those who sign up as volunteers for the day. In this planning meeting, we can get so much underway. Ideas have a way of taking off and becoming real possibilities when we can talk together and explore the options in a meeting like this.”
