Central-Carroll scored an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a hard-fought 3-2 home win over LaGrange.

It was the Region 5-AAAA opener for both teams.

Trailing 2-0, LaGrange pushed a pair of runs across in the top of the sixth inning to tie it.

It remained a tie game until Central won it with a run in the seventh inning.

Central put two base runners on with errors, and Taylor Stevens won it with a base hit.

Camden Smith was the tough-luck loser for LaGrange.

Smith held Central to six hits and two earned runs, and she had five strikeouts.

Smith also got it done at the plate with an RBI single to cap the two-run sixth inning.

Holly Lynn had two of LaGrange’s six hits, and Malone Aldridge, Abby Vanhoose, Smith and Mariana Ceja each had one hit.
