A shooting suspect was arrested Wednesday night at the Econo Lodge on Whitesville Road.

Cornelius Potts, 42, was arrested for aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during certain crimes, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony probation violation, according to a press release from the LaGrange Police Department.

Potts was the suspect in a shooting that occurred at 10:41 p.m. on Aug. 23 at 907 South Parkway. The victim told police he and Potts had been in a disagreement when Potts pointed a firearm and shot him in the lower abdomen, according to the press release. Potts fled the scene on food, while the victim was taken to an Atlanta area hospital for treatment.

The LPD received information on Wednesday that Potts was at the hotel and arrested him without incident at around 8 p.m.

Potts was taken to the Troup County Jail.
