Man arrested for aggravated assault on Town Center Drive

The LaGrange Police Department took Jazzmine Simmons into custody on Wednesday in connection to a Labor Day aggravated assault.

On Monday around 9:48 p.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to reports of a man shot on the 400 block of Town Center Drive.

According to a press release from LPD, the 62-year-old victim told officers that he heard a knock on his door, and when he opened it, he reportedly saw an unknown person wearing a mask.

When he tried to close the door on the unknown person, they fired one shot at him, and it struck him in the left shoulder.

The victim was transported to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. The case is under further investigation.

Simmons was charged with aggravated assault, criminal attempt armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
