Winning weekend for LaGrange

LaGrange High’s softball team went 3-1 in the Trojan Slam in Carrollton.

After winning both of its games on Friday, LaGrange split its two games on Saturday.

All three of LaGrange’s wins were by one run, and it won two of those games in walk-off fashion.

LaGrange has won 10 of its past 12 games to improve to 14-8, and it remains 4-3 in Region 5-AAAA.

On Friday, LaGrange won two thrillers, beating Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 2-1 and Columbus 13-12.

In the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe game, LaGrange scored a single run in the sixth inning to tie it before plating the winning run in the seventh.

Camden Smith was dominant on the mound, throwing a seven-inning complete game, and she gave up one run on six hits while striking out eight.

Holly Lynn had two hits, Smith had a single and an RBI, and Abby Vanhoose and Jacee Marable each had a hit.

In the Columbus game, LaGrange scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to win a wild, high-scoring game.

Kirsten Williams won it with a walk-off double in the sixth inning.

Leadoff hitter Malone Aldridge had two hits and five RBIs, and Williams had three hits and three RBIs.

Madison Dennis had three hits and two RBIs, Marable and Smith each had three hits and one RBI, Lynn had a hit and an RBI, and Vanhoose, Macee Stone and Kaylee Bryant each had a hit.

Stone pitched the complete-game victory.

In Saturday’s first game, LaGrange earned another walk-off victory against Bremen, with Smith’s base hit securing the 7-6 victory.

Smith also pitched, and she went eight innings to get the complete-game win.

Lynn had three hits and three RBIs, and Stone also had three hits.

Vanhoose and Marable each had two hits and an RBI, and Aldridge, Dennis and Williams had one hit apiece.

In LaGrange’s final tournament game, it lost to Alexander 8-2.

Aldridge had two hits for LaGrange, including a solo home run, and Vanhoose had two hits and an RBI.

Smith also had a hit for LaGrange.

LaGrange continues its region schedule on Thursday with a home game against Troup.
