There will be plenty of events in store for the whole family this weekend — from the stages of Lafayette Theater Company to the waters of West Point Lake. 

The Lafayette Society for Performing Arts will get the weekend off to a start worthy of The King, with “All the King’s Women,” in the Lafayette Theatre Company Black Box Theatre. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday night. The theater opens one hour before performances.  Concessions are available at each show, with a light bar added during mainstage/adult productions. Individual tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for students, with season tickets also available. Tickets may be purchased online at LSPARTS.org or by calling (706) 882-9909. 

One of the biggest annual local fundraisers for the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Home will be held Saturday morning. The Troup County Sheriffs’ Office will host its tenth annual car show to benefit Pineland Youth Home beginning from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Pyne Road Park. The annual fundraiser helps support the local boys home, which is one of five Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes. The car show will also feature several vendors, hamburgers donated by Kimble’s Food by Design and DJ Larry Harris.

The 2019 Kiddie Fishing Rodeo for ages 4 to 12-years-old will also be held Saturday morning beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing through 2 p.m. 

This year the rodeo will feature three age categories, ages 4 to 6-years-old, 7 to 9-years-old and 10 to 12-years-old. All age categories will receive a prize for the largest fish caught and one grand prize for the most bream caught. The event is hosted by the Troup County Sportsman’s Club, and lunch will be provided. The event will be located at 5446 Roanoke Road, and all participants are asked to bring their own fishing gear and bait.
