Arrest made in Elm Street shooting

The LaGrange Police Department announced Friday that a suspect is in custody in connection to a recent shooting on Elm Street.

According to a press release from the LPD, Maceo Foster, 31, of Starmount Drive was arrested at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, for alleged participation in the Sept. 14 shooting on the 1400 block of Elm Street. Foster is charged with four counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes. 

He was arrested during a traffic stop on Redding Drive in LaGrange and later booked into the Troup County Jail, according to the press release.

Around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 14, officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to reports of multiple shots fired on the 1400 block of Elm Street, according to LPD. Upon arrival, officers reportedly made contact with a victim, who suffered from a gunshot wound to her shoulder area and hand. 

Witnesses reportedly told officers that the victim was shot while running from the area after she heard gunshots. The victim was flown to an area hospital for emergency treatment.

Officers were also notified of three other victims at WellStar West Georgia. One of the victims suffered a gunshot wound to the ankle, another suffered a gunshot wound to the back and the third suffered a gunshot wound to the left shoulder.

Numerous other victims were spoken to on the scene and at WellStar, with several suffering minor injuries from running from the area, according to the press release.
