The matchups are set.

While LaGrange High’s softball team will host Denmark in its state-playoff opener next week, Callaway will be on the road against Rockmart.

LaGrange, the number two team from Region 5-AAAA, will host a Denmark team that finished third in Region 7-AAAA.

They’ll play a doubleheader on Tuesday starting at 5 p.m., and if needed, a third and deciding game would be on Wednesday.

The winner advances to play either Shaw or Burke County in the second round, with a berth in the state quarterfinals on the line.

LaGrange (20-10) earned the right to host a state-playoff series by finishing second to Central-Carroll in the region.

Those two teams played for the region title last week, and Central-Carroll won the two games 10-4 and 5-1.

Denmark’s softball team is led by a coach with LaGrange High ties.

David Smart, the former head baseball coach at LaGrange, is the softball coach at Denmark.

Denmark (18-10) finished third in Region 7-AAAA behind Marist and Flowery Branch.

Callaway and Rockmart will also play a doubleheader on Tuesday at 4 p.m., and the if-game would be on Wednesday.

The winner of the series plays either Thomasville or Bleckley County in the second round.

Callaway finished fourth in last week’s region tournament, falling to Heard County in the semifinals before losing to Bremen in the third-place game.

Rockmart (23-3) went unbeaten in Region 7-AA.
