Nina Kelley Spruill

Softly and tenderly, Jesus called Nina Kelley Spruill, 97, home October 6, 2019. Nina is survived by daughter, LTC Janice Spruill, US Army Retired, and two daughters of the heart, Patricia Hunter and Angela Heard Steel. She is preceded in death by a son, Joe Randall Spruill, RN, and husband Joseph Maynard Spruill.

Raised on a cotton farm in Brooks Georgia during the early 1920s along with three brothers and three sisters by William R. and Rosa Jones Kelley. Then after her Mother died her Father remarried Elizabeth Borders and they had three sons and one daughter. Of these eleven siblings, she is survived by one sister, Lydia Sue (Lebus) Kilgore from Griffin, Georgia and sisters-in-law, Fran Kelley, Mozelle Spruill Coult, Helen Spruill and Arleen Spruill and many loving nieces and nephews.

She moved to LaGrange, Georgia in 1940 and began work as a textile weaver for Callaway Mills, where she would work for 40 years. She would tell people she went from the cotton fields to the cotton mills. Nina met and married Maynard in 1942, they were married 67 years. She was a longstanding member of Western Heights Baptist Church.

The Family will gather at 1 p.m. graveside on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 and the Celebration of Life service will be at 1:30 p.m. in Restlawn Memory Gardens, 2098 Moody Bridge Rd. LaGrange, GA. with Rev. Steve Vickery of Western Heights Baptist Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the LaGrange Hospice or Troup County Animal Shelter, will be appreciated.
