An historic season came to a close for Callaway High’s volleyball team on Saturday in Rabun County.

Earlier on Saturday, Callaway beat Johnson-Augusta in a five-set thriller, and that was the first state-tournament victory in the history of the school’s volleyball program.

Later in the day against home-standing Rabun County, Callaway’s season came to an end with a straight-sets loss.

In the first match, Callaway seemed to be in control after winning the first two sets, but Johnson came storming back to win the next two sets to pull even.

In the winner-take-all third set, Callaway beat Johnson 15-10.
