Mr. Edward Leon “Lee” Newman, 74, of LaGrange, GA passed away peacefully on October 22, 2019 in Newport, Tennessee. He had been living with his daughter, Tammy in Sevierville, TN for the past 5 years.

Mr. Newman was born March 28, 1945 in Phenix City, AL to the late Joe Newman and the late Anna Lucile Chadwick Newman. He proudly served his country in the United States Army through the Alabama National Guard. Mr. Newman was a Retired Chief Building Official with the City of LaGrange. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Newman, Jr.; a daughter, Teresa Lynn Newman-Hyatt; a grandson, Brandon Taylor Greenwood; and a brother-in-law, Robert Chapman.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Newman; daughter, Tammy Rousseau and fiancé Kenny Burkhart; grandson, Joshua Lee Selfridge, his wife, Oksana and great granddaughter, Isabella Nicole Selfridge; sister, Oma Aileen Gilbert and husband Bobby; sister, Rebecca Chapman; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Jeff Miller and Pastor Cade Farris officiating.
