LaGrange runners end season at state

LaGrange High’s girls’ cross-country team raced away with a ninth-place finish at the state meet on Friday in Carrollton.

LaGrange’s top finisher was sophomore Lauren Farris, who was 44th overall with a time of 22 minutes, 16 seconds on the 3.1-mile course.

Next for LaGrange was Zamya Rhaney (22:37) in 54th place, and Zenay Rhaney (23:17) and Anna Doerr (23:18) were 71st and 72nd, respectively.

Ivorie Smith (23:24) was close behind in 74th place, and LaGrange’s final two runners were Tatum Fritchley (24:21) and Sophie Nix (25:17).

LaGrange’s boys’ team finished 12th, with seniors Miller Penn and Alex Bowie leading the way.

Penn (17:44) paced LaGrange with a 32nd-place finish and Bowie (17:58) placed 37th.

Next for LaGrange was John McDonald (18:49) in 79th place, Matthew Callaway (19:07) finished 85th, and Nathan Fritchley (19:12) was 91st.

LaGrange’s final two runners were Aaron Fritchley (19:35) and Alex Martin (20:00).
