It’s playoff time for the Lafayette Christian School Cougars.

Lafayette Christian will host a first-round game in the semifinals of the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association 11-man state playoffs.

Lafayette Christian (6-2), which finished first in its region to earn home-field advantage in the playoffs, will play Georgia Christian on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

If Lafayette Christian wins, it will face either Griffin Christian or John Hancock in the state-championship game on Nov. 15.

Georgia Christian beat Fullington Academy last week to advance to the semifinals.

During the regular season, Lafayette Christian beat Georgia Christian 52-22.

The Cougars, who won an eight-man state championship in 2015, reached the 11-man state-title game a year ago before losing to Lift Christian Academy.

Also this week, the Troup Tigers and LaGrange Grangers will both play their regular-season finales.

For Troup, the number one spot in the region may not be on the line, but the stakes will still be high when it hosts the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes on Friday night.

For the past three seasons, Troup headed into its regular season-ending game with Cartersville with an opportunity to claim the Region 5-AAAA championship.

That won’t be the case this season, but there will still be plenty at stake for the Tigers, who are trying to nail down one of the region’s four state-playoff berths.

Troup (6-3 overall) is tied for third place in the region with a 3-2 record, and a win over Cartersville would guarantee a playoff spot.

If Troup loses to Cartersville, it would make it into the playoffs as the number four seed if Cedartown beats Chapel Hill on Friday.

Another scenario has Chapel Hill winning that game and creating a three-way tie for third between Chapel Hill, Troup and Cedartown.

If that happens the Tigers could end up missing the playoffs if the tie-breakers don’t go their way.

LaGrange (2-7 overall) will host Shaw on Thursday in its final game of the season.
