New Venutres CEO Mike Wilson spoke at Wednesday’s LaGrange Rotary Club meeting on how members and the community can assist the LaGrange-Troup Homeless Coalition’s Warming Center this season.

According to Wilson, there are three shifts available for volunteers:

  • 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. is check in for guests
  • 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. is check in and assisting with meals
  • 9:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. is overnight stay assisting with guests when needed.

“Other ways that you can volunteer is something we started a couple years ago, is microwave meals,” Wilson said. “You can buy these at Walmart for less than $2.”

Wilson said center is also in need of canned goods, towels, wash cloths and monetary donations.

The warming center located at 150 East Lukken Industrial Drive is open from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. and will officially open when temperatures drop below 37 degrees.  For more questions of how to get involved and volunteer call Wilson at (706) 333-7973, email Mwilson@newventures.org or visit tchomeless.com/volunteer.
