On Friday morning, employees at The Health Bridge in West Point gathered canned food donations in colorful boxes as part of its annual drive to ensure that everyone has something to eat on Thanksgiving.  

The cans will be taken to the Interfaith Food Closet in Valley on Monday, so Saturday will be the last full day to donate at the office.

“[We hosted it] to help the needy during the Thanksgiving holiday,” said Elisha Kite, the compliance director at Health Bridge. “We wanted to make sure that everybody had food.”

Kite said that the box decorating contest started last year, and Troup County Sheriff James Woodruff stopped by on Friday to choose the best box of the bunch. 

“They did a wonderful thing,” Woodruff said. 

“They collected about a thousand cans of food for people in the West Point and Valley area. It is going to go for a great cause, and for them to just go out of their way decorating those boxes [was awesome]. They were dressed up in costumes. They had skits that they either sang or spoke. It was just a wonderful experience. I wish that more organizations would do the same thing.”

Woodruff said that he was honored to be selected as a judge for the event.

The Health Bridge is located at 300 West 7th Street in West Point.
