An 18-year-old male was arrested for breaking into numerous vehicles on LaGrange College’s Campus Thursday morning, according to the LaGrange Police Department. 

Upon arrival to the scene, two individuals took flight on foot and after a brief foot chase one of the subjects, Bayshad Huguley, was caught in a back yard on Boulevard Street. 

“There were two persons over there breaking into vehicles, but the other one avoided us,” said LPD Sgt. Robert Kirby. “Anyone with information on who the second person might be is asked to call us.” 

According to Kirby, officers began checking the area and located several vehicles that had been broken into. 

“Only three victims have been identified, but we would like to identify others who had their cars broken into as well,” Kirby said. “Specifically, it was in the area by the sorority houses.”

The criminal investigation section was notified and initiated an investigation. Huguley was interviewed and charged with three counts of entering an automobile, along with six counts of participation in criminal street gang activity. 

The LPD’s special investigations unit was notified and conducted a simultaneous investigation into Huguley’s known and self-admitted gang affiliation. According to LPD, as a result of the investigation, a search of Huguley’s home was completed, during which a 9mm handgun was located and identified as belonging to Huguley. Huguley was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. 

He was booked at the Troup County Sheriff’s Office and is being held on a $2,000 bond.
