Melvin Edward Lewis Sr. passed away Tuesday in Indianapolis, Indiana, the firstborn child of John Walker Lewis and Anna Mary Lewis.

Melvin was born on Dec. 17, 1923, in Prichard, Alabama.

A talented musician, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Local survivors include his children Benita (Carl) Epps; and Altheria Wyatt, LaGrange, Georgia, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many treasured friends.
