Mr. Rufus Johnson Brown, of LaGrange, passed away on Nov. 23, 2019. He was born in Cheraw, South Carolina, on June 2, 1943, to the late Thelma Louise Brown and Eudonar Glen Brown. He was the husband of Mrs. Harriett Broadhurst Brown and the late, Linda Ann Maddox Brown. He was the former owner of Brown’s Furniture Refinishing.

He was the father of Steven Brown and Scott Brown; the stepfather of Benji Shepherd, Bill Shepherd and Barbie Whitley; the brother of Hugh Brown; the uncle of Diana Maddox, Susan Maddox, Charles Maddox, and other nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown is also predeceased by his siblings, Gene Brown, Melton Brown, Thomas Brown, Elizabeth, Tiny Francis, Mary Alice Stone, Beatrice Reed and Annie May Duck.

A funeral service will be held at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends before the service on Wednesday beginning at noon. 

The committal service will directly follow the funeral and will be held at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange. Pastor Bryan Geter will officiate the service.
