It’s a perfect five-for-five for the LaGrange Grangers.

LaGrange overwhelmed visiting Hampton 60-41 on Tuesday to improve to 5-0 and continue its unblemished start to the season.

It was an impressive win over a Hampton team that has some solid wins to its credit, including one over a strong Mundy’s Mill team.

“They beat Mundy’s Mill earlier in the year, and Mundy’s Mill was ranked top 10 in Class AAAAA,” LaGrange head coach Mark Veal said. “They weren’t a bad team, I just thought we played really good. I thought it was one of the best ballgames we’ve played all year.”

Nafis Carston led LaGrange with 17 points, Javon Brown added 15 points, and DJ Burks contributed 10 points.

All 13 LaGrange players made an appearance in the game, and nine of them scored.

“They threw different stuff at us defensively, and they did what we asked for the most part,” Veal said. “We’re just pleased with this month.”

LaGrange took control early, outscoring Hampton 20-8 in the first quarter, with Brown and Carston combining for 13 points.

The Grangers led 32-18 at the half, and they were ahead 43-25 by the time the fourth quarter rolled around.

LaGrange closed the game strong with 17 fourth-quarter points, with Brown and Carston scoring all but two of those points.

LaGrange will try to move to 6-0 when it hosts Harris County on Tuesday.
