Paul Longley Pruitt of Jonesboro, GA, who was born May 12, 1932, in LaGrange, GA, passed away December 1, 2019, at the age of 87.

He graduated from LaGrange High School in 1951 and went on to serve four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the jet-aircraft carrier USS Yorktown. He returned home to marry his childhood sweetheart, Gloria DeLamar; they raised three daughters in their loving home and celebrated 63 years of marriage in April.

Paul was a master carpenter and construction foreman; his many works of excellence–fine homes and commercial buildings–stand throughout the Atlanta-area and over the Southeast. His best work, however, remains in the hearts and souls of those he influenced by his infectious, enthusiastic, life-long love for Jesus Christ. Gloria and he dedicated their lives to living-out Christian principles and spreading the love of the Lord to everyone. Paul lived a glorious life punctuated by his exuberant, positive personality, and generous heart. Many are marked by his love, and many will miss him. He was preceded in death by parents, Rev. Paul E. and Lorena Pruitt; brother, Robert Pruitt; sister, Audrey (Pruitt) Reece; and grandson, Austin Paul Peacock. He is survived by his wife Gloria Ann Pruitt; children Lisa Pruitt (Richard) Peacock of St. Augustine, FL, Piper Pruitt Jordan of Jonesboro, GA, Paige Pruitt (Wayne) Hurst of Brentwood, TN; brother, Levon (Sherry) Pruitt of Hogansville, GA; grandchildren, Trae (Shan) Rivera, Adam (Tammy) Peacock, Tyler (April) Lockman, Kristen (T.J.) Landress, and Greyson Samuel Paul Hurst; loved in-laws; and many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m., Wed., Dec. 4 at Oak Park Church, Jonesboro, GA, where Paul and Gloria are members. Rev. David T. Scott will officiate.
