After several months of construction and renovations, KFC in LaGrange will open on Friday.

KFC had a location in LaGrange a little more than 10 years ago, but due to a loss of licensing by management at the time, the fast food restaurant closed its doors.

Earlier this year, a Kentucky Fried Chicken franchisee bought the property at 305 New Franklin Road.

Construction of the new KFC location began in early July.

From there , all new furniture and appliances have been added to the restaurant.

“Rarely do you come across someone who doesn’t like KFC,” said Bill Byrd, owner of the LaGrange KFC. “The community is so supportive, and we are so excited to be opening our doors.”

Byrd and his partner David Barr own 34 KFC’s around the Georgia-Alabama area. Both men are involved in PMTD Restaurants LLC, which affiliates with multiple chains of KFC and Taco Bell. Byrd said he “fills in the gaps” with KFC’s around this area to fulfill several community’s wishes of having a KFC.

Everyone currently employed at KFC is from LaGrange, providing jobs for lots of community residents.

Dee Ross, general manager for the LaGrange KFC, said her sister worked at the last KFC in LaGrange around 10 years ago and loved her job.

Her sister always wanted Ross to work with her, yet she never got the chance as her sister passed away last September.

“When I found out there was going to be a KFC in LaGrange, I wanted to be able to work with my sister,” said Ross.

“Since she isn’t here, I’m going to do the best I can with my job for her because that’s what it’s about for me.”

KFC will be open from 10 a.m. through 10 p.m., seven days a week.

The LaGrange KFC is located at 305 New Franklin Road.

It’s official ribbon cutting will be Jan. 8, 2020, at 10:30 a.m.
