Mr. Earnest Richard Ellenburg, of LaGrange, passed away on Dec. 29, 2019.  He was born in LaGrange to the late Ola Mae Ballarby (Surrett) and Ernest Ellenburg on July 9, 1935.  

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellenburg is preceded in death by his loving wife, Ophelia Ellenburg; his siblings, George Ellenburg, Oscar Ellenburg and Lily Reeves; his children, Earnest Thomas Ellenburg and Tony Scott Ellenburg. Mr. Ellenburg proudly served our country in the National Guard. He retired from Newman Construction Company where he worked as a carpenter. Mr. Ellenburg  enjoyed trout fishing and spending time with his family. Mr. Earnest Richard Ellenburg is survived by his sons, Carl Ellenburg (Andrea) and James Hale; his grandchildren, Kim McGuffin (Ben Todd), David Cosley, Jessica Gentry (Kevin), Melissa Gay (Frisco), Josh Hale; his great grandchildren, Chloe McGuffin, Keeley McGuffin, Kainnan Gentry, Keenan Gentry, Kollyn Gentry, Kollsyn Gentry, Kaitlyn Gentry, Gavyn Hale, Adallyn Hale, Teddy Cosley, Julie Cosley, Hailey Earley, Allison Cosley; his special daughter-in-law, Teresa Hale. 

The funeral will be held at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2019, at 2 p.m.  Pastor Brian Geter will officiate the service.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until service time on Saturday.  The committal service will directly follow the funeral and will be held at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.  Hunter-Allen-Myhand, A Higgins Family Funeral Home, (706) 884-5626.
