Lady Tigers stay perfect

With the game on the line, senior Amber Gilbert came through in a big way to help keep the Troup Lady Tigers unbeaten.

Gilbert scored 15 of her team-leading 22 points in the fourth quarter as Troup outlasted Central-Carroll 50-43.

Gilbert was 7-of-8 from the free-throw line in the final quarter while also making two 3-pointers.

Alexcia Murphy added nine points for Troup, and Aniya Palmer had eight points.

Troup improved to 14-0 overall, and 4-0 in Region 5-AAAA.

In the boys’ game, Troup beat 62-55 for its first region win of the season after three losses.

“The bench came through tonight,” said Troup head coach Blake Craft. “We played 12 guys, and we had seven guys score.”

Qua Johnson made four 3-pointers and led the Tigers with 14 points, and Gabe Cofield added 13 points.

Ricco Person and Isaiah Cox had nine points apiece, and Trey Williams and Gabe Stepp each had six points.
