Like a good neighbor, Alex Brown is there.

When Brown left the army, he found a new way to serve his community. On Jan. 1, Brown opened a State Farm branch and became an agent in LaGrange after serving the military for eight years.

After serving an army officer and an Apache helicopter pilot, Brown said he was looking for a community to call home.

“I opened it in LaGrange, because I wanted it to be in a nice close-knit community,” Brown said. “I’ve moved all across the country with the army, have been in combat and been to Afghanistan, then moved back here in August of last year.”

Brown said State Farm offers vehicle, home and property, health and disability and life insurance to its customers, as well as banking products.

“The State Farm Agency is dedicated to customer service and take care of their customers,” Brown said.

Brown’s office also offers its services to Korean speaking customers at their location in LaGrange. A major goal of his is to become a well-established agent in the community that everyone wants to come for their insurance needs.

“I look forward to building long-lasting relationships in the community,” Brown said. “The agent I took over for was a huge part of the community. As I’ve been talking to a lot of customers, I saw how well he built relationships and I hope to do the same.”

Although office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Brown offers his services to customers at all times.

“I want them to want me to help them to protect what’s important to them,” Brown said. “Being in the Army, I was flying helicopters at 3 a.m. So, I want to offer that same service to customers. For example, if a nurse is on night shift, I will be here at the office at 6 a.m. if they need to meet.”
