Lady Cougars earn number one seed

The Lafayette Christian School girls’ soccer team wrapped up the number one seed for its region tournament with a 28-27 home win over Community Christian on Thursday.

Savanna Bryant and Hana Stevens led the Lady Cougars with eight points, with Bryant doing a terrific job of handling the ball late in the game while running time off the clock.

Millie Childree added seven points, all in the first half.

Clinging to a three-point lead, Lafayette Christian only scored two points in the fourth quarter, but Community Christian was limited to four points.

In the boys’ game, Lafayette Christian was unable to keep pace with Community Christian in a 78-40 loss.

It was close early, with Lafayette Christian trailing 18-16 after the first quarter, but Community Christian was ahead 36-22 at the half.

In the second half, Community Christian outscored Lafayette Christian 42-18.

Cameron Gisler led Lafayette Christian with 17 points, Grant Gedney added nine points, and Atira Parks scored six points.
